This contract frames the retainer as liquidated damages: a reasonable estimate of what holding the date cost you. That framing, with a rescheduling path for early cancellations, is what actually holds up.

Client delays and venue restrictions are not your breach. Editing judgment stays yours and raw files stay your property. If you are ill or an emergency hits, you provide a comparable substitute or a full refund as the exclusive remedy, with your liability capped at what the client paid. Force majeure moves the event to a new date instead of into a dispute.
You keep the copyright.
The client gets a permanent personal-use license: printing, sharing, all of it. You keep the copyright and, if you choose, portfolio and social rights. The intake asks and the contract follows your answer.

Client wants to reschedule, not cancel. Covered?
Yes. Cancellations more than 90 days out convert the retainer to a credit for one new date within a year, subject to your availability. Inside 90 days the liquidated-damages clause applies.
Does this work for DJs and planners, or just photographers?
The structure is the same for any event vendor: deliverables, retainer, cancellation, substitution, and delivery. The image-rights section simply matters most for photo and video.
What if the venue bans photography during the ceremony?
Venue restrictions are addressed: you are not liable for shots the venue or schedule made impossible.
