LABOR LAW §§ 191, 193, 198 · CPLR 5004New York Labor Law § 198 lets a worker who prevails on an unpaid-wage claim recover the wages owed plus an equal amount as liquidated damages, plus interest and attorney's fees, with a six-year lookback. Worth knowing
Overtime is owed at one and a half times the regular rate for hours over 40 in a week for most employees; salaried status alone does not make you exempt. The calculator does not model tip credits, spread-of-hours pay, or exempt classifications. Interest is an estimate.

What are liquidated damages on unpaid wages?
An additional amount equal to the unpaid wages, awarded under Labor Law § 198 unless the employer proves a good-faith basis for believing it complied. In practice the claim roughly doubles.
How far back can I claim?
Six years under the Labor Law's limitations period, among the longest in the country.
Can my employer retaliate?
Retaliation for complaining about wages is unlawful under Labor Law § 215 and creates a separate claim.
